![]() The hanging lights add a sense of warmth to the overall decor. The inner taproom has a seating area different than what I've seen in most places. feel free to scroll down and come back.īack? Good, let's continue. SPOILER ALERT: Chewy's the very last picture at the bottom of this review. Fair warning: You will probably be greeted by Chewy. The inner taproom is the one you immediately walk into. Between the logo and the mural along with the backdrop for the tap handles, aesthetically this was very pleasing to me.Īs for the brewery itself - there are two taprooms which we'll just call the inner and the outer taproom. There's the feather in the middle with the top half being the sun and the bottom half being the sea. It's clean, simple and has all of the elements of the Greek myth of Icarus. Personal rant: I have to say this, I absolutely love the Icarus Brewing logo. It was a long and arduous process, but thankfully, the time had finally come to release this brewery's beer into the wild. With the release of a beer that had been barrel aged since November, I knew it was finally time to go visit Lakewood, once more. It was the first brewery that I chronicled from build to finish and it amazed me the amount of time that can go by until the doors finally open. I do have to say that the journey of Icarus is one that I've followed since the very inception. Open now for a little over 8 weeks, Icarus Brewing has found a home in Lakewood, NJ. But for now, we'll stick with the theme of balance. The naming convention behind the brewery is quite brilliant, and if you do happen to take the tour with Jason, ask him where he got the name from because there's more than reason as to the "why". If you talk to the owner, Jason Goldstein, you'll come to understand pretty quickly that Icarus is quintessentially the Greek myth that fully embraces the theme of balance. With all the crazy beers and insane variants of stouts and IPA's I've had lately, sometimes it's nice to have a return to normalcy and balance.

They took a bit of a detour to open Tipsy Music Pub in October, and in the end decided they wanted to focus their energy more on building their restaurants, says Brook Barlow, with X Agency, who is handling PR and marketing for Tipsy Taco. Tipsy Taco’s owners Balentine and Carlton have long had their sights on growth, particularly in areas that might embrace their neighborhood vibe. “And in this market, you don’t get that many chances with people.” “There were just a lot of mistakes happening in the kitchen and in the front,” he said. And without consistent staff, it was hard to maintain consistent quality, Ko said. He blamed his own lack if integration in the local food scene (Ko moved here in 2015). The Common Cure was designed as a neighborhood spot, with a casual atmosphere, good burgers, good salads and a good vibe, but Ko said he struggled to find and keep good staff. When that group abruptly closed its two Local Taco locations in Greenville in 2016, Ko negotiated a deal to take over the one at 15 Conestee. Local Taco was also a Ko-created concept, but one he had sold to a restaurant group in 2015. ![]() Ko opened his neighborhood restaurant last March, taking over the space left vacant when The Local Taco closed. “While the Music Pub was a fun and unique concept for us, we want to focus on the Tipsy Taco brand and future growth.” “The expansion was something we knew would eventually happen and with these two great location opportunities, we decided now was the time,” Carlton said via e-mail. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will be located at 702 Fairview Road, Suite 104. In addition to the Augusta Road restaurant, Tipsy owners Trish Balentine and Roger Carlton have plans to open a Tipsy Taco in Simpsonville. And it comes as Tipsy Taco is closing its Tipsy Music Pub and focusing on what the owners said they do best: restaurants, food and fun. The changes come as The Common Cure has struggled to find its footing in a restaurant landscape populated with options and dwindling qualified staff, said owner John Ko. immediately, with plans to open for business there in April. The former restaurant closed its doors Sunday, and the latter will be taking over the 4,500-square-foot space at 15 Conestee Ave. One restaurant closes, another opens: That seems to be the story of Greenville these days, and so it is also the story of The Common Cure and Tipsy Taco. Found a vinyl house that fits the suction strainer opening (loose fit, excess water low pressure), and run tap water through the unit in "Purge" then use soap & water solution with flex bags. Spent 2-3 hours masking and putting in drop clothes, and ~ 20 minutes painting, vs 3-4 days of hand painting, and got a much better more uniform paint job.Ĭlean up of this sprayer takes some forethought, as flushing water via the 32oz bag requires about 10+ change outs. Truly amazed at how little overspray was produced, I will be able to mask off a lot less on the next stair rail, due to the accuracy of paint delivery and minimal overspray. Used lots of drop clothes, as what I was painting was the small item. Turned the control to lowest setting and got all the paint I needed in the correct locations, Upside down under the top rail, the backside joints, angled connections. Had to learn how to NOT puddle the paint (move fast). Bought a 112 tip, which worked very good learned that it puts out ~ 80% the amount of paint that at 0.015" tip does, but puts it in 20% of the area. Since my "target" to paint is the corner of a 1" square ballister, I didn't want a 8" -10" wide spray. Bought the corded version, as I will use it then it may be 6 months before I use it again I've found that cordless batteries work best if used on a regular basis, and not good at all if only used occasionally. Wanted to be able to spray at lowest pressure possible. Needed something that wouldn't overspray the surrounding world (always have wind blowing). Needed a small airless sprayer that I didn't have to dilute the paint to use. So we have them all right here and we can kind of flip back and forth between them and compare them. And then we have the LANDR-mastered version of that original mix. Then we have Howie Weinberg’s mastered version of that original mix. And if you take a look, you’ll see we have my original mix so this is basically my finished mix before it was mastered. Okay, so we have a couple different versions of a song here called “Joshua,” by artist Leah Capelle. And so I brought everything into my DAW, and level-matched it all, and we’re going to jump in and I just want to compare everything so you can get a sense for what the differences are between my original mix, and Howie’s master, and then the LANDR version of the mastered mix.
